Week 3 of our meal plan was a little rougher than the first two weeks. Shaun's extended family was in town and we were invited over for a BBQ on Friday, and on Saturday, we were given tickets to see bull-riding in Fort Worth, so we had sandwiches and fruit before we went. Our main goal for meal planning, however, is not relying on restaurant food unless planned for (or occasionally necessary), so we really didn't do too bad, all things considered.
Of last week's new meals, the sausage skillet was a huge hit, especially with Shaun, while none of us particularly cared for the cube steaks (tough and kind of dry). I don
Being that Saturday's are generally busy with activities during the day and church in the evening, I'm thinking of not trying to plan a complicated meal that night, just pizza, mac and cheese, breakfast for dinner, etc, basically playing it by ear with a few quick & easy options.
Now, as for this week:
Sunday - Breaded Pork Chops, Rice, Creamed Corn
Monday - Crockpot Beef Stroganoff, peas maybe, or just add fruit for dessert
Tuesday - Chicken Teriyaki (from last week, did not make)
Wednesday - Tacos, chips & salsa (busy night)
Thursday - Pad See Iew, curry puffs
Friday - Meatloaf, baked potatoes (maybe change to steak if we get propane for the grill)
Saturday - Pizza, breakfast for dinner, mac & cheese and sausages, something like that.
We also need to make a dessert for the week, thinking of Fruit & Zucchini Bars. I bought a bag of zucchini at Kroger a couple of days ago. Ben has request cheesy zucchini appetizers, but I have more than enough zucchini for dessert too.
