RIP Alpha the Betta Fish

One can add snails to the betta fish tank in order to help clean the tank.

Snails and betta fish can coexist peacefully as long as they are both alive.

Should the betta fish die, the snails will eat all the flesh from its body, leaving behind a teeny tiny skeleton which means you will have to dig the skeleton out after ascertaining that the betta fish did not jump out of the lidded tank.

Then you will have to have a fish funeral and buy a successor, all while assuring the children that the snails aren't especially mean, they just eat dead things and that Alpha did not suffer.

We are going to buy Gamma the betta fish in a few minutes.

  1. I like the efficiency of the snails cleaning up after the fish dies. Nice circle of life lessons there, too. ;)
