Sneak Peek - Russell Madness!

I have been dying to share this and finally I can!  Last May, I alluded to a trip out to Vancouver for something really special, and now it's time to reveal.  I was invited to a sneak preview of the Russell Madness movie set, thanks to Fox Home Insiders.

Now, heading to Vancouver?  Awesome in itself.  My first trip to a movie set?  Amazing!  And the fact that this movie involved both a Jack Russell *and* a monkey?  It was absolutely unbelievable.  We had a chance to tour the set, meet the cast, watch some of the filming, and meet the dog and monkey!  (For those of you who don't know how obsessed I am with my own dog, this was so much fun!)  Russell Madness is produced by Air Bud Entertainment, you know and love those adorable golden retrievers, right?  This is another great installment in their family-friendly movies.

So, what's the movie about?
RUSSELL MADNESS tells the story of Russell, an undersized but big-hearted terrier who dreams of having a family of his own. After running away from his pet store, Russell gets taken in by The Ferraros, a family desperate to revive their grandfather’s pro wrestling arena. That’s when they discover their new pet pooch has incredible wrestling skills. With help from his coach, Hunk, a savvy and hilarious monkey, Russell rockets to the top of the pro wrestling world and becomes a famous sports superstar. But when a dishonest promoter double-crosses the Ferraros, Russell will face his biggest challenge and discover that the strongest tag team is family.
See, how can you not love this whole idea?

I'm still dying to see the movie in it's entirety.  While in Vancouver, they were filming some of the introductions at the wrestling arena. The scenes with John Hennigan as The Hammer and Nicholas Harrison as Dieter Das Mountain are hysterical, they are the "bad guys" of wrestling in the film, but definitely the comic villain type!

Other highlights from the set?  Meeting John Ratzenberger (who will always be his Cheers' character to me) and talking to him about the movie, acting, and his family.  He was most congenial and it was a pleasure getting to chat with him.   I also loved the opportunity to talk with the animal trainers--the one who trains Crystal, the monkey who plays "Hunk" and one of the trainers for one of the Jack Russells.  The chance to cuddle with puppies and monkeys was also highly appreciated.

We're definitely excited to see the movie now, Russell is just too adorable!  Maybe I need a Jack Russell to be Dante's new best friend.  Check out one of the clips, wouldn't your kids like it too?
