Mittens & Books & Ben, Oh My!

Mr. Ben was sitting at the table today with the school bin that housed scissors, pencils and paper. He didn't seem to feel like tracing the cookie cutters and was just randomly cutting paper. All of a sudden he comes up to me and says "I made a mitten!"

And he did. He wanted to color it in and wanted Mommy to help make it a pretty mitten. So we made it a pretty mitten!

After that, we decided we need to read a couple of mitten stories, so we read One Mitten by Kristine O'Connell George and The Missing Mitten Mystery by Steven Kellogg. We were going to also read The Mitten by Jan Brett, but apparently, we don't own it. We have several others of hers, including The Hat (which I thought was the one I wanted based on the cover). I'm adding The Mitten to my need-to-buy list.

I love the little daily learning opportunities with the kids! :o)

  1. There's also another version of the mitten (which I can't think of the author right now), that's the original folktale, and it's fun to compare the two.
