Simple Puppets

I found these puppet kits at Joann's the other day. For $1, they included all the felt pieces (with holes for stitching already punched), googly eyes, and string with shoelace like tips for easy stitching.

It was the perfect first sewing project for Ben, no needles required, but same technique. He got right to work on making his alligator!

The string was long enough to whip stitch the outside instead of a simple in and out stitch. Ben got the hang of it pretty quickly.

I was surprised how much he enjoyed making it!

Little bit of hot glue to attatch the eyes and teeth (my job) and voila! An alligator puppet.

For the first puppet show, our alligator learned to wink.

I had to promise to buy a few more kits for him and help him make a puppet theater next.

  1. That looks great! And a lot of fun. I think it's really good that Ben is starting to sew - my mum used to go into my school to help teach sewing classes and she often found boys were really keen but just not encouraged to learn at home.
