Ice Age Collision Course, Movie Night

Since last weekend was stormy here in the PNW, I promised the kids we would have a movie night.

We were excited to have an entire movie night themed around the new Ice Age: Collision Course movie.  The kids were waiting all week for a time we could snuggle up on the couch and watch it.

We had everything we needed for our movie night--Fox sent us the movie and an awesome box of goodies!  We made another batch of Scrat's Frozen Yogurt Bites (recipe on the food blog) and more fun food.  Since it is October, I opted for more fun Halloween foods--mummy dogs, ours are cheddar sausages wrapped in crescent rolls, orange pumpkins with Tootsie Roll stems, and root beer floats, plus popcorn for during our movie.

In latest installment of Ice Age,
Manny the mammoth starts to worry when his daughter Peaches announces her engagement. Still unlucky in love, Sid the sloth volunteers to plan the couple's wedding. To Manny's dismay, nothing can stop the upcoming nuptials, except maybe the end of the world. When Scrat accidentally launches himself into outer space, he sets off a chain reaction that sends an asteroid hurtling toward Earth. Now, the entire herd must leave home to explore new lands and save itself from Scrat's cosmic blunder.
It's a cute movie and a great continuation of the Ice Age series.

After our dinner and movie, we had to check out some fun space related activities.  Fox sent us a Rocket Science Kit, a Planetarium Projector, and a 30X Telescope.  Because it was raining, we decided to hold our rocket launch for a better day, but we were all set for an indoor planetarium experience.  Ben set it all up for us and projected all sorts of fun scenes on the ceiling.

We also got a chance to check out a few stars outside, in between the raindrops, so we plan to do that again on a clear night!  Ben's fascinated with astronomy right now, so this is definitely on our to-do list.

What are your favorite things to do on movie night?  Do you do themed movie nights too?  And if you want to have an Ice Age: Collision Course movie night, head over to the food blog to enter to win the movie!
