This past weekend, the kids and I were invited to take part in the 2nd Annual Chick-fil-A Family 5K in Fountain.
Since I am part of the Chick-fil-A Mom Panel, I've been lucky enough to connect with our local Chick-fil-A and we've loved their military events, mom-son events, and their breakfast specials! The Family 5K is a chance for the Fountain location to celebrate their anniversary and show support for the local community.
This awesome family 5K took place at John Metcalf Park in Fountain, and included runners and walkers of all ages and skill-level, which is definitely something I enjoy. I'm not much of a runner, but I have no problems enjoying a good 5K walk and my girl agreed to actually walk with me. The event also featured The Great Cow Race, a 1 mile fun run for children under age 8.
As part of giving back to the community, a local charity is the recipient of the race proceeds. Last year, City of Fountain was chosen to help with their youth sports programs. This year, Chick-fil-A Fountain chose Pike's Peak Suicide Prevention as the beneficiary!
The Zumba warm-up, complete with the Zumba-ing Chick-fil-A cows was definitely fun to see. We also loved our free Chick-fil-A Chicken Biscuits after the run and checking out some of the local vendors.
This was also the first year Chick-fil-A has partnered with Cross Creek Church to host Community Fest as part of the event. The free festival featured bounce houses, face painting, free hamburgers and hotdogs, and free snow cones, running until a little past lunchtime.
We really enjoyed ourselves and, despite my lack of running, we finished the course right around the hour mark! We even had plenty of time to check out the Community Fest after the run. I can't wait for next year when the husband will be home to join us for the 3rd annual run.
