Several years ago, I purchase Katherine Applegate's The One and Only Ivan for my oldest. She read it, loved it, and cried a lot. My second did the same, so I read it myself. I also cried. It's an amazing book.
I was super excited to find out that the book was being made into a movie by Disney, since Disney is one of those companies you know will do an amazing job adapting one of your favorite stories.
The movie just released on Disney+ this week and we are already planning a family movie night to watch, and probably cry, over the gorilla and the elephants.

Ruby is recently separated from her family in the wild, which causes him to question his life, where he comes from and where he ultimately wants to be.
