Now Available, Out of Line for the Nintendo Switch!

We were provided with a copy of Out of Line for the purpose of review, all opinions are my own. This post may contain affiliate links.

We're having lots of family fun with the Nintendo Switch.  It's definitely one of those platforms that has options that are appealing to all family members.  We have found so many games that are perfect for everyone in the family, and the latest?  Out of Line, which has just released in North America today!

My son once again offered to help with the blog review since his gaming abilities are far superior to mine. One of the first things I noticed?  The absolutely amazing artwork within the game.  Out of Line might be one of the prettiest games I've seen, with a brushwork style of illustration.

In Out of Line, the player plays as San, and follow him on his adventures to escape the Factory that was once his home. Key to this is San’s mysterious spear of light, which can be used as a springboard, lever, foothold, tether and more. Through puzzle levels, the player helps San gain his independence.

Inspired by Studio Ghibli, modern philosophy and impressionist art, the game is an enchanting children’s book brought to life. As players journey from one gorgeously illustrated setpiece to the next and assist protagonist San on his search for identity, they’ll discover the value of freedom in the face of abject tyranny.

My son definitely enjoyed the game, it is by far one of the most unique looking games we have ever seen. There's so many elements to figuring out San's story as well as how his spear works, what options there are to complete the puzzles, etc.  We both felt that it is a game and story that could be enjoyed by a wide variety of audiences. The philosophical elements of San's quest may appeal more to a more experienced player, but the game itself is appealing even for the younger set.

The game features several elements that make it appealing to all audiences.
  • Enjoy dozens of visually impressive puzzles
    • Learn to master the mechanics of the spear
    • Interact with beautiful hand-drawn environments
    • Learn from extraordinary characters
    • Uncover the mystery surrounding San’s story
Sound cool?  Check out the trailer below.

Out of Line is available now on Steam and Nintendo Switch for $12.99. The game is coming to Xbox One and Playstation 4 later in 2021.
